The 35k project is an unofficial fan project exploring the events of the Nova Terra Interregnum.

Started in 2025, the porject explores the era of the Nova Terra Interregnum:

• The lore – Written from the perspective of an Imperial scholar, the main books provide an account of the Nova Terra Interregnum for players to play through.
• The game – To allow players to play in this era, we produce supplements for 5th edition Warhammer 40,000, mostly using 4th edition Codex books.
• The hobby – Across our Discord and Subreddit, players have created their own chapters, regiments, craftworlds and other factions, exploring their histories.
• Campaigns – The community runs campaigns and writes campaign books, allowing players re-enact the battles of the 35th millennium.

35k is a setting, not a ruleset, meaning players can use whichever rules they wish to play with. Whether it is our slight alterations to 5th edition 40k or more modern editions, the main objective of the project is for players to have fun.

In making new rules, we use the 5th edition ruleset and (mostly) 4th edition codex books. You can find our supplements on our documents page.

• We use 5th edition rules as we feel it gives the more narrative and ‘middle ages’ feel we are going for with this setting and a lot of the rules players of more modern editions will recognise. We have made minor alterations to the rules to remove common issues players had with this ruleset.
• 4th edition Codex books generally have greater customisation, allowing players more ability to create their own chapters, regiments, and other factions. A full list of recommended books is in our core rules PDF.

Our community can be found on Discord and Reddit. We encourage people to take part however they like:

• Painting models and playing games. Our campaigns are a great way to get involved.
• Writing lore and creating factions. Many players have made their own chapters already.
• Making art. Some of our community have drawn art for their own models and for the setting.
• Exploring areas of the setting. One of our members is exploring the Imperial Navy of the era with Battlefleet Gothic.
